My favorite thing about La Carrera Panamericana so far. The people.

October 19, 2009

I have to take a second and mention some great new friends we’ve met. Paul and Darrell are buddies from Sacramento and this is their second La Carrera. Their car is an amazing 356 Porsche. Paul and Darrell and Paul’s wife Nancy have taken us under the wing and are schooling us each night on the finer points of rally racing. Seriously, you can spend a whole lot of money and come a long, long way to do this race only to mess up and make a wrong turn and ruin the day and your chances for a succesful, competitive finish. Paul and Darrel have made all the mistakes back in 07 and their back with a vengence, older and wiser. And their sharing with us so we might not make the too many rookie mistakes. They are great and we’re grateful. Thanks guys!

    Martin and Conrad,
What an amazing adventure. I’m so glad I stumbled on your blog (from a link on jalopnik, thanks Phil!). Now I can follow your travels while I’m at work! (don’t tell Jay). It’s too bad there are no pictures until after Tuesday but at least you lost your phone in a very glamorous way. No dropping it in the toilet or having it lifted by airport security in Puerto Vallarta (you know who you are) for the Perdido crew. Stay safe and give my love and hugs to my twin. She’s a trooper for sure.

    xxoo Adriana
